Í líffræði hefur samlífi mismunandi lífvera verið flokkað eftir áhrifum einstaklinga hverra á annan. Samlífið getur ýmist verið hagstætt fyrir báða aðila, bara annan þeirra eða jafnvel hvorugan. Dæmi um þetta eru samband býflugu og blóms eða bandorms og hýsils. Náin sambönd manneskja á milli eru yfirleitt flóknari en svo að hægt sé að meta heildaráhrif þeirra á einn eða annan veg. Sé stækkunarglerið þó fært nógu nálægt og rýnt í einstaka athafnir eða atvik er hægt að finna þeim stað í flokkunarkerfinu.
Tólin sem finna má á sýningunni knýja fram ákveðnar tegundir samlífis manneskja á milli. Til verða augnablik þar sem tilvera tveggja eða fleiri aðila fléttast saman, hvort heldur til gagns eða ógagns.
Um listamanninn:
Þórður Hans (f. 1992) er einn stofnenda listamannakollektívsins Art Studio Art Collective og prentverkakollektívsins Postprent. Listsköpun hans hefur undanfarið beinst að tengslum mannfólks í gegnum tól og tæki, þá sérstaklega garðáhöld. Þórður Hans leggur stund á myndlistarnám við Konunglegu Listaakademíuna í Haag í Hollandi.
Tools for symbiosis

Within the taxonomy of biology are six different forms of symbiosis, each defined by the varying effects of the long-term coexistence of the individuals involved. The effects can be can be harmful, beneficial or neutral. Examples of different symbiosis can be the relationship between flowers and bees in the field or a tapeworm and its unfortunate host. Close relations between humans are most often too complex to rigidly assess as either harmful or beneficial. However, if zoomed in closely enough, certain parts of a relationship can be fitted into the taxonomy of symbiosis.
The tools in this exhibition are meant to enforce certain types of human to human symbiosis. With their affordability they generate moments where the existence of two or more individuals momentarily gets entangled, whether it be for the better or worse.
About the artist:
Þórður Hans (b. 1992) is one of the founders of the art collective Art Studio Art Collective and the online printmakers collective Postprent. His art practice as of lately has to do with the study of human to human relations and gardening tools. Þórður is a student at the the Royal Academy of Art The Hague.
