Þröskuldar. 
Um þröskulda, fyrirbærið þröskuld sem grundvöll tíma og rýmis. 
Um það hvernig breyting getur aðskilið og endurskipulagt. 
Um viljan til að afhjúpa og vera afhjúpaður inn í nákvæmt ástand, í þéttari tíma.

Um það að vera í togstreitu milli þess sem er nálægt og þess sem er fjær, það sem er og þess sem var. Um eiginleika þröskuldsins til að leysa upp fjarlægðir. 

Þröskuldurinn býður upp á töfraraunsæi og leyfir gjörðum að eiga sér stað milli draums og veruleika. Óáþreifanlegur arkitektúr sem skapar hugmynd um rými, hugmynd um aðskiljanleika. Þröskuldur gefur tilkynna rými sem er til án þess að vera til staðar. Draumaröksemdir. Leikur milli skynjunar og ímyndunar. Ómöguleg samstilling. Tveir sannleikar sem stangast á, samstundis.

Þétting tímans. Sú tilfinning núvitundarinnar, þar sem tími er í senn sannur og í upplausn. Allt byrjar við þröskuld. Þröskuldurinn sem staðsetning, sem umskipti. Þröskuldurinn sem tól og tækifæri til að flytja okkur úr stað.

Um listakonuna

Sarah Maria stundar huglæga iðkun sem tekur efnislegan svip. Verk hennar eru framlenging á líkömum. Hún hugsar um hluti sem viðfangsefni og hvernig hlutur getur breytt skynjun okkar og gefið okkur nýjan skilning. Sarah Maria er dregin að efnislegri ljóðlist, fyrirbærafræði og tilfinningafræði sem hún túlkar í gegnum skúlptúra og ljósmyndun en nú beinist að gleri.

Thresholds. About thresholds, threshold phenomena, timespace. About how differences can divide and reorganize time and space. About the will to expose and to be exposed to a precise state, in thickened time.

About being direct and distant at the same time. In order to be in a state of tension between here and there, now and then, one and another. About the threshold’s ability to make us present and absent at the same moment.

The threshold offers a magical realism and allows performances to take place between dream and reality. An intangible architecture creates an idea of spatiality, an idea of difference. Notation of rooms that exist without presence. A dreamlogic. A play between perception and imagination. An impossible synchronicity. Two truths that oppose each other.

And the thickening of time. The feeling of now, where the time is true and dissolved. It all starts at a threshold. The threshold as location and transition. The threshold as the opportunity that also carries us away from the place.

About the artist

Sarah Maria is engaged in a conceptual practice taking a material expression.  Her work is an extension of bodies and she thinks about objects and subjects and the way in which an object can change our perception and understanding of a subject. Sarah Maria is drawn to object poetry, phenomenology and emotionology working across the mediums of sculpture and photography with an expression that currently focuses on glass.
